Chennai: Yoga enthusiasts to attempt Guinness record
At Chennai, the world records attempt will be at Avichi School, Virugambakkam.
CHENNAI: The Art of Living will hold Veerabhadrasana (Warrior Pose 1) for three minutes, along with partner organisations, in a bid to attempt Guinness World Record and Limca Book of Records on International Day of Yoga here on June 21.
The attempt will be made simultaneously at 22 locations in India with maximum number of participants. Trained Sri Sri Yoga teachers of Art of Living will guide the participants to hold the posture and attempt a record at multiple locations for the first time, including at Bargarh, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Damanjodi, Guntur, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kozhencherry, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune, Phaltan, Raipur, Rewari, Thiruvananthapuram, Udgir, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam.
At Chennai, the world records attempt will be at Avichi School, Virugambakkam. The program will begin at 5.45 am and will end at 7.30 am. Over 200 people including school children, and adults of all ages will participate in the event in Chennai.
Yoga app: The ministry of Ayush (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) has come out with an updated version of its mobile application, Yoga Locator2019, which provides relevant information on yoga centres, practitioners and events.
The Bhuvan app is also ready in its new avatar and can be used to report a detailed information of location, participants, organisers, instructors and volunteer of Yoga event celebrated on the International Day of Yoga 2019. The app that has been developed with the help of Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) is meant to provide accurate magnitude of participation on the day of the main event. The app will help in mapping all the areas where people participated in large numbers and will provide a sort of heat map.
Globally, at least 180 countries have confirmed participation for the fifth IDY. The main event in India will be lead by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Ranchi's Prabhat Tara Ground.
