Hyderabad: Sanitation works at the Osmania General Hospital have come to a complete halt following a strike that was declared by nearly 250 contract workers over unpaid salaries.

They claim they have not been paid for three months. The delays of payment have angered the workers who said they will only re-start work once all payments have been cleared by the government and the hospital.

They added that salaries were to be increased from Rs 6000 to Rs 10,000 but that has not happened either. When asked, the contractor said payments were delayed because the money from the government had not come on time. Hospital superintendent Dr G.V. Murthy spoke to the TSMSIDC about the delay in payments but there was no response.
