23-year-old pregnant woman dies of swine flu in Hyderabad
There have been 22 deaths due to swine flu from August last year, and 1,500 persons have been reported with the infection.
Hyderabad: A 23-year-old pregnant woman died in Gandhi Hospital due to swine flu, the first death due to the disease in the monsoon season.
A doctor said she had come from Asifabad district with severe complications and was undergoing treatment for two days. Swine flu was confirmed on Wednesday, by which time her condition had deteriorated.
Four other cases of swine flu were reported from Mahbubnagar and Ranga Reddy districts.

Gandhi Hospital superintendent Dr Shravan Kumar said, “As the temperatures have come down the virus is active again. It is affecting those whose immune systems are low.”
“People have to be careful during the monsoon also as the virus has got used to the Indian climate and is striking those who are weak. Pregnant women have to be extremely careful and not expose themselves to crowded places,” he added.
