Governor P Sathasivam summons Kerala University V-C
The Governor directed the vice-chancellor to take immediate corrective steps in the matter on a priority basis.
Kochi: Governor P. Sathasivam on Friday summoned Kerala University vice-chancellor V.P. Mahadevan Pillai following serious allegations raised in a memorandum submitted by the Opposition delegation earlier in the day.
The vice-chancellor met the Governor to brief him about the steps taken in view of the seizure of answer books from the house of the accused in the murder attempt case at University College.
The Governor directed the vice-chancellor to take immediate corrective steps in the matter on a priority basis.
While returning from the Raj Bhavan after meeting the governor, KSU activists tried to stop Dr Pillai. They waved black flags on the VC, too.
The Governor has summoned the PSC chairman M.K. Sakeer on Monday to seek his explanation on the complaints about the accused in the University College stabbing case Shivaranjith and Naseem included in the rank list of civil police officers.
Meanwhile, opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala on Friday said despite grave allegations regarding scam in PSC examinations and rank list preparations, the government was behaving as if nothing has happened.
Mr Chennithala alleged that an 'SFI goonda' had secured first rank in the PSC examination and the government says there is nothing wrong. Despite the corruption in admission, examinations and appointments now being proved , the government cannot turn a blind eye to the corrupt practices and nepotism. This is the reason why the opposition leaders met Govenor P Sathasivam who is also the chancellor of university, and demanded immediate action, he said.
Mr Chennithala said the Governor is the appointing authority for PSC. The job scam has created fear in the minds of people of the state and the chief minister’s claim that action has been initiated in the matter is completely hollow. Despite appointing a minister for higher education the department is in dire straits. There is no reaction or action from the side of the minister even when a huge controversy is rocking the state.
He said no action had been taken to end violence and criminal activities in government college campuses. He said no action had been taken to end violence and criminal activities in government college campuses. “The Governor has assured us to look into these issues seriously,” Mr Chennithala said.
