Hyderabad: Baby abducted by gang of 4 members saved

Hyderabad: A two-month-old baby who was abducted by the gang of four members even as her mother slept, was rescued by the Mahbubnagar police and handed over to her parents on Friday.

The police identified the accused as autorickshaw driver Md Saleem, 27, Tasleem, 30, Sameena Naheed, 29 and Khadeeja Begum, 56.

According to the police, the mother of the toddler, P. Chitti, along with her husband and three other children were sleeping in front of an orphanage on Saturday last. At that time the two women abducted Chitti.

When the toddler cried, the mother woke up and found some women were kidnapping her child. She alerted her husband who woke up they tried to nab the baby-snatchers. The two women got into an autorickshaw that was parked at the scene and escaped.

The parents then approached the One-Town police. During their investigation, the police analayed the CCTV footage in the surrounding areas and spotted the getaway autorickshaw.

Mahbubnagar SP Rema Rajeshwari said, “We formed special teams and sent them to railway and bus stations to trace the baby,” The police then received a tip-off and went straight to a house in Veerannapet where they found the baby. “When questioned, the suspects confessed to stealing the baby. We arrested the four accused who were involved in the crime and sent them to judicial custody,” she said.
