Bhubaneswar: 5 killed in cracker unit explosion
The injured were rushed to the capital hospital.
Bhubaneswar: At least five persons were killed and two others seriously injured in an explosion in a cracker unit at Siko village under Jankia police limits in Odisha’s Khurdha district on Saturday. The injured were rushed to the capital hospital.
Reports said that the blast took place at the house of one Sanatan Sethi, where it was alleged that they were illegal manufacturing crackers in the early morning.
The deceased were identified as Dolly Sethi (19), Dutee Sethi (62), Sanatan Sethi’s wife Babi Sethi (40) and their two daughters Madhabi Sethi (8) and Tikili Sethi (4).
The asbestos roof of the house collapsed under the impact of the explosion. On being informed, fire personnel rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operation.
