KOZHIKODE: Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) will be completing 23 years of academic excellence on Wednesday.

As part of the foundation day celebrations, Dr Harbeen Arora (founder and global chairperson, All Ladies League and Women Economic Forum) and Ms Shalini Warrier (chief operating officer, Federal Bank) will be addressing the IIMK community.

"IIM Kozhikode revisits its foundation values, which include socio-economic equity and prosperity for the nation. This year, by inviting two very prominent women to address our students and the IIMK community, we renew our commitment to promoting gender diversity and inclusivity," Prof Debashis Chatterjee, its director, said.

"Over the past two decades, IIMK has come a very long way and is on an exciting trajectory of expansion and growth. It has been playing a pioneering role in professionalising Indian management through its postgraduate programme, doctoral-level programs, executive training programs and research and consulting activities. Our strength lies in our innovative and learning-oriented teaching practices and contemporary industry-specific curriculum, which is strongly backed-up by our sturdy corporate interface. We pride ourselves with the high quality of our faculty who have built a name for themselves in top quality teaching, high impact corporate training and extremely relevant research."

Founded in 1996, IIMK was the 5th IIM. The institute has grown significantly in its intellectual output, students, resources and infrastructure in these years. It was ranked 6th among all management schools in the recent NIRF rankings for higher education launched by the Union HRD ministry.

The points scored by IIMK for various parameters indicated that the institute is doing well in teaching and learning resources, graduation outcome and outreach and inclusivity.Starting in 1997 with a batch of 42 students, IIMK is on a high growth trajectory today. Postgraduate student intake for 2019 was 485, i.e., more than 11 times increase in 23 years, thus making it one of the fastest-growing management schools in the country.

Additionally, IIMK has successfully mentored IIM Amritsar, the 15th IIM in the country, from 2014 to 2019.
