Ganapati suicide case: Court allows objections against CID report
The Judge has put off the case to September 29.
Mysuru: The Principal Civil Judge of JMFC Court hearing the suicide case of former DySP M.K. Ganapati on Monday allowed the filing of objections if any to the report of the CID, which investigated the controversial incident. The CID sleuths had submitted a ‘B’ report to the court, giving a clean chit to former minister Mr K.J. George and senior police officers Mr Pranab Mohanty and Mr A.M. Prasad on Saturday though they were named in the FIR.
According to sources, CID sleuths have concluded after going through the statements made by Ganapati’s father, brothers, sister and psychologists treating him, that he suffered from depression.
A departmental inquiry was pending against him in the encounter case in Rajagopalnagar police station and the Mangalore church attack case and he suffered from anxiety fearing disciplinary action (of either being suspended or transferred), sources said. The CID version is that the depression coupled with anxiety made him commit suicide. As for the allegation of abetment to suicide made against Mr George, Mr Pranab Mohanty and Mr A.M. Prasad, CID sleuths concluded that there was no evidence to prove that harassment led to his suicide under section 306 read with 34 of IPC. This was the reason why the CID had to file the ‘B’ report, sources said.
The Judge has put off the case to September 29. Meanwhile, Ganapati’s brother Machaiah has filed a writ in the High Court seeking directions for handing over the case to CBI.
