Bengaluru: Bus commuters got stranded for nearly four hours on Tuesday morning when the BMTC staff, attached to Shantinagar bus depot, went on a flash strike following an alleged suicide attempt by a driver.

The driver, Madhu, attached to Shantinagar bus depot, tried to kill himself by consuming poison, alleging harassment by administration staff. In response, the drivers staged a protest in front of the depot manager’s chamber.

No buses operated from the depot for about four hours. 

The protest was called off only after the intervention of the senior officials, who assured to look into the matter and solve them. The driver is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
