HC Quashes Case Against Former CS Of MP Gopal Reddy
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Wednesday quashed a criminal case registered by the Enforcement Directorate against former chief secretary of Madhya Pradesh M. Gopal Reddy in connection with the Rs 3,000 crore e-tendering scam that rocked Madhya Pradesh.
ED had filed the case against Reddy based on the criminal case registered by the economic offence wing (EOW) of Bhopal. He was alleged to have facilitated Mantena Srinivas Raju, promoter of Hyderabad-based GVPR Engineers and Max Mantena Micro JV, accused of tampering tenders in Madhya Pradesh in a scam that was to the tune of Rs 3000 crore. The case is that in return for his favours, Gopal Reddy had availed of foreign trips. The EOW lodged cases against Reddy under sections 120-B of IPC and various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, following which ED filed separate cases.
Recently, the High Court had quashed ED cases against the prime accused Srinivasa Raju. Hence, the High Court on Wednesday quashed ED cases against Gopal Reddy.
