What are you chest-thumping about: Cong asks govt on BRICS
Abhishek Manu Singhvi said the BRICS Declaration does not have a single word of support on the terror issue from either China or Russia.
New Delhi: Congress on Wednesday dismissed government's claim of isolation of Pakistan at the just-concluded BRICS summit and asked what was it chest-thumping about.
"We do not have in the BRICS Summit Declaration a single word for Pakistan. We do not have in the BRICS Declaration a single word - forget action - on Jaish. We do not have in the BRICS Declaration a single word about LeT.
"We do not have in the Declaration a single word about cross border terrorism," party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters, insisting that the media has been "fed by the staple diet of chest-thumping, self-congratulatory press blitzkrieg by soldiers of the BJP".
He insisted that the Declaration does "not have a single word of support" on the issue from either China or Russia - India's long time friend.
He said what was significant in the Declaration is that there is "specific reference" to several other threatening organisations which threaten China and Russia "but those who threaten India have no place. What are you chest-thumping about?"
"You decide for yourself whether the glass is one quarter full and three quarters empty," Singhvi remarked.
