Chennai: A man claiming to be a social activist approached the City police commissioner’s office on Thursday seeking action against actor Kamal Haasan for spreading panic among public with his tweets about Nilavembu Kudineer.

“It is not necessary that only allopathic enthusiasts should do the research. Even the sentinels of culture can do that”, he had tweeted saying that it is also traditional for medicines to have side effects.
On Thursday, G Devarajan of Sembium approached the police commissioner’s office seeking action against the actor. Devarajan said that he is filing the complaint on the basis of being a patient who recovered from illness by Siddha medicine including Nilavembu kudineer.
“At present there are no medicines in Allopathy to treat dengue while Siddha medicines have been building immunity against the disease”, Devarajan stated in his complaint He claimed that the actor’s tweets are in bad taste and his views might create unrest in the state.
“He is using the public fear to his advantage and trying to instigate them to indulge in anti national activity,” the petition stated. Apart from demanding the removal of the actor’s twitter account, Devarajan also demanded police action.
The actor clarified Thursday that he tweeted to his fans to not distribute Nilavembu kudineer without advice from the doctors. He also said that he doesn’t have prejudices against Siddha medicine.
