The Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, is gearing up for the development of Amaravati, as 2018 is the last year of the present ruling government.

Hyderabad: The Gujarat-Himachal election results should put the AP Telugu Desam in an advantageous position when it came to seat adjustment for the ensuing Assembly poll, according to leaders.

During the 2014 Assembly elections, seat adjustment between the TD and the BJP did not have a smooth sail. A last-minute understanding saw the BJP win four Assembly and two Lok Sabha seats in AP.

From day one after the 2014 Assembly results were announced, leaders of the two parties had been trading charges against each other. The leadership of both the parties had to step in to rein in their cadre. But the not so rosy win of the BJP in Gujarat resulted in cadre criticising each other.

But a senior TD leader said AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued to have good relations and local level criticism would have little impact.
