Hyderabad High Court: What is done to prevent copying

Counsel for the Telangana state government told the court in 1,200 centres they are yet to install the CCTV cameras.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court directed Chief Secretaries of AP and Telangana state to file reports explaining the steps being taken to curb mass copying in SSC and Intermediate public examinations.

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranga-nathan and Justice G. Shyam Prasad was dealing with a PIL by Dr Srinivas Guntupalli of Eluru in AP which stated that both governments were not taking steps to prevent mass copying and guided copying.

The bench asked the Chief Secretaries to file a report on the number of students caught copying this year, those prosecuted and action taken against those aiding in mass copying under under Public Examinations Act 1997.

Counsel for the Telangana state government told the court in 1,200 centres they are yet to install the CCTV cameras. The bench said in view of the slashing the prices of CCTV cameras it would not be a burden on the  exchequer.
