Hyderabad: Shock throws lineman off guard, kills him

Hyderabad: A lineman working with the Telangana State Electricity Board succumbed to his injuries after falling from a pole while carrying out repair work at Kethireddypally sub-station in Moinabad on Tuesday.

According to the Moinabad police, the linemen at Mudimyala sub-station were informed about a power cut and tripping of a 33 KV electricity line at about 11 pm on Monday and were asked to attend the complaint. 

Linemen K. Narsimhulu of Gollaguda, Sudhakar, Gopal and a few others along with assistant engineer Shivashankar went to the line at Sajjanpally gate. 

While they were repairing the line, Narsimhulu and Sudhakar suffered an electric shock and fell down. Sudhakar recovered but Narsimhulu, 33, did not. He was rushed to Yashoda Hospital in Somajiguda for treatment, where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Moinabad inspector G. Venkateshwarlu said,  “Electricity department officials said that the electric shock was caused by the passing of induction from a 400 KV line. A  case of suspicious death has been registered and Narasimhulu’s body has been handed over to his family.”
