TRS mounts pressure in Delhi

Hyderabad: TRS MPs who are in Delhi for the Parliament session have been meeting Union ministers daily and mounting pressure to secure redressal of their 52 demands including national project status for the Kaleshwaram project. 

The MPs led by TRS Parliamentary Party (TRSPP) leader A.P. Jithender Reddy on Wednesday met Union minister for social justice Dr Thawar Chand Gehlot and requested him to constitute a ministry for OBCs.

They sought the appointment of the chairperson for the National Backward Classes Commission as the post has been lying vacant for quite some time. 

On Tuesday, the MPs had met ministers Nitin Gadkari and Ravi Shankar Prasad and submitted a memorandum on pending issues.

They told the ministers that it would not be proper for the Centre to create obstacles for the state’s attempt to increase reservations for minorities and the Scheduled Tribes under the pretext of the Supreme Court order. 

Speaking to mediapersons later, the MPs questioned the “dilatory tactics”  of the Centre on the State’s request for allotment of Bison Polo Ground for construction of the Assembly and Secretariat apart from other issues.

Mr Jithender Reddy, Mr Vinod Kumar and Ms K. Kavitha told reporters that though the Centre had cleared AIIMS for Hyderabad and sanctioned Rs 1,100 crore for its construction, there was inordinate delay in setting up the institution. 

They alleged that the division of High Court was deliberately delayed to benefit the TD leadership which was an ally of the BJP till recently. The MPs said the TRSPP as desired by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was firm on securing the state’s dues.
