Hubballi: Condemning the decision of the state government to withdraw the conservation reserve tag of Kappatagudda forest, former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda said that he is ready to launch a movement to save the picturesque hills if the situation warrants.
Addressing the media in Gadag on Friday, he opposed the move to give mining license in the vast area and said that it is necessary to protect the region owing to the large number of ayurvedic plants found in the region. He also said that the JD(S) will support to the ongoing agitation under the leadership of Dr Siddalinga Swamiji of Tontadarya Mutt demanding that the government restore the special status of the forest.
