CBSE: No change in Neet syllabus this year
Students, parents and teachers opposed the move.
Hyderabad: The Central Board of Secondary Education decided on Saturday not to change the syllabus for Neet-2018. This came after students, parents and teachers across the country opposed a proposal to amend the syllabus just 100 days before the examinations.
The board issued a notification on its website cbseneet.nic.in denying that any changes were being planned in the Neet UG syllabus. This announcement was made after Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar's suggested considering state syllabus while preparing the question paper. Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences Vice-Chancellor Dr B. Karunakar Reddy said, “There was some talk on changing the syllabus. But there was opposition from many people as three months are left before the test.”
He said that in TS the syllabus had been modified to match that of CBSE. Sri Chaitanya Institutions Dean Kumar Veeramalu said, “The statements on change of syllabus may have been because of demands from Tamil Nadu and Maharastra as they need to adapt to the syllabus.”
