Door-to-door survey starts in Telangana today
Door-to-door fever survey across the state will identify people suffering with fever or symptoms of Covid-19
Hyderabad: The government will launch a door-to-door fever survey across the state from Friday to identify people suffering with fever or symptoms of Covid-19. Those found with symptoms or fever will be given home isolation kits with medicines.
Health minister T. Harish Rao told a news conference that the state government was fully geared up to control Covid-19 and the survey was a step to identify possible cases of the disease and provide immediate treatment without delay.
Harish Rao said that, following instructions from Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, a video conference with collectors was conducted on Thursday and instructions on guidelines were issued for the fever survey, distribution of home isolation kits and seven-day monitoring of suspected cases at home by field workers.
The survey will be conducted jointly by the health, panchayat raj and municipal administration departments.
“If anyone’s health is deteriorating or symptoms are getting worse, such individuals will be taken to the nearest government hospital for treatment,” he said.
He called on people to play their part in controlling the spread of Covid-19 by following safety precautions such as proper wearing of masks, staying away from crowds and keeping hands clean.
The government, he said, under the guidance of the Chief Minister, had acquired two crore Covid-19 testing kits and prepared one crore home isolation kits. As many as 27,000 oxygen equipped beds are in place in hospitals, while special wards for children with necessary equipment were set up.
“It was the fever survey, that was lauded by the Niti Aayog and the Central government as a role model and best practice for other states to adopt, that kept Covid under check during the second wave,” Harish Rao said, adding: “The fever survey is to help people avoid lining up for testing at clinics. It is taking healthcare to the doorsteps of the people.”
