Gandhi hospital to segregate wards
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting of the superintendent with all department heads
HYDERABAD: With the rapid rise in Covid-19 cases, and as a preventive measure, officials of Gandhi Hospital have decided to segregate all departments to their respective wards and floors into Covid and non-Covid wings and treat patients accordingly.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting of the superintendent with all department heads here on Thursday.
Henceforth, patients would be deemed Covid-19 negative on the seventh day from the date of Covid positive report and would be shifted to non-Covid wards in the respective departments. Retesting the patient on the seventh day will not be necessary for performing surgeries or for any other medical intervention.
Only those cases where the patient requires more than 10-15 litres of oxygen and considered at high-risk, irrespective of the department, would be shifted to the second floor of the building.
It was also decided that the PG and other doctors who get infected in the line of duty should submit a Covid-19 positive report and thereafter, avail a leave for five or a maximum of seven days. Doctors who get infected with the virus and require medical assistance would be admitted in NIMS or TIMS as the Gandhi hospital does not have rooms against payment facility.
The superintendent informed that authorities of NIMS and Osmania hospitals were asked not to refer their Covid cases to Gandhi hospital. However, in the meantime, instructions were given not to refuse any such cases.
It was also decided to increase the number of non-Covid and Arogyasree related admissions at the hospital.
