ICSI to give awards, set up study centres in Tamil Nadu
The ICSI will be conducting CS Olympiad', an aptitude cum general knowledge test in colleges located in remote areas.
Chennai: In a move to promote and propagate company secretaries as governance professionals and to attract more young talents in commerce background towards it, Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has introduced a set of initiatives including setting up of ‘Signature Award’, ‘CS Award’ and study centres in various colleges in Tamil Nadu.
In a press conference ICSI president Mamta Binani told reporters that the new initiative is intended to extract talent from students of commerce background studying in remote areas of the state.
The ICSI Signature Award is instituted by ICSI for toppers in the bachelor degree examinations in commerce conducted by state, central universities and specialized programmes of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in different parts of the country. Top three students will be awarded with the ICSI Signature Award.
The ICSI will be conducting ‘CS Olympiad’, an aptitude cum general knowledge test in colleges located in remote areas and small towns in Tamil Nadu and other states from September where the first three rank holders will be handed cash award worth Rs 1 lakh each.
“The move to conduct CS Olympiad is to encourage more students from schools in two-tier and three-tier towns of the country and encourage them to take up company secretary course in the future,” said Mamta Binani at the press meet.
Apart from the two initiatives, the institute is also setting up ‘ICSI study centres’ for imparting quality education and basic services to the ICSE students in association with universities and colleges who will provide space and infrastructure for the study centers.
