Kanimozhi suspicious of TN's stand on Sterlite issue
He also accused the opposition parties of instigating people, thus leading to the tragedy on May 22.
Thoothukudi: Member of Rajya Sabha, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, who is expected to be the DMK candidate in the Lok Sabha election for Thoothukudi constituency, has expressed suspicion on the Tamil Nadu government's stand regarding the Sterlite issue.
Responding to mediapersons at the airport here on the State government's stand that the ruling party men had been boasting of victory on the Sterlite issue, Kanimozhi said, "People know what is behind the issue." Kanimozhi added that if the State government had tried for a real solution on the issue, they would have positively responded to the people's struggle much earlier.
Recalling the indiscriminate firing on the people on May 22, the DMK Rajya Sabha MP added, "The Tamil Nadu government is still answerable for the killing of people in the anti-Sterlite struggle."
It may be recalled that State information and publicity minister, Kadambur C Raju, in his immediate response to the Supreme Court order, setting aside the NGT order in the Sterlite case, came down heavily on the opposition parties, particularly the DMK, for misinforming people that the closure order issued by state government against Sterlite was legally invalid.
He also accused the opposition parties of instigating people, thus leading to the tragedy on May 22.
