Kollam: Three including mom, daughter die in mishaps

Kollam: Three persons including a mother and daughter died in two different road accidents here on Wednesday. Jalaja, 52, and her daughter Arya, 27, of Kavadippuram Nagar in Asramam died after a bus rammed their two-wheeler in Chemmamukku.

Rasheed, 25, of Kilikolloor died at a police vehicle checking spot in Punthalathazham. Local residents blocked road protesting against the police which continue to conduct vehicle inspection despite the area being accident prone.

The mother and daughter were heading for Kollam railway station on way to Attukal temple in Thiruvananthapuram to attend pongala offering. The two-wheeler on which the duo travelled was knocked down by a KSRTC bus near Bharata Rajni church around 6 am. Jalaja died on the spot while Arya breathed her last at a private medical college hospital. The Kulathupuzha bound Venad bus from Kollam hit the vehicle from behind causing the accident.
