Nara Lokesh declares his family assets
This was in contrast to the CBI and ED disclosing the assets of the top leaders of YSR Congress, he said.
VIJAYAWADA: Telugu Desam national general secretary and MLC Nara Lokesh has declared the assets and liabilities of his family. “TD has been the only party in India disclosing the assets of its top leaders over the past nine years,” he told reporters at the TD national office here on Thursday. This was in contrast to the CBI and ED disclosing the assets of the top leaders of YSR Congress, he said. The value of these assets was disclosed at the rate at which they were bought and not at the current market price. “Assets are being disclosed by our family for the last nine years. We demand that Jagan should disclose his assets, rather than being reported by the CBI and ED,” he said.
Mr Naidu’s net assets have increased by Rs 87 lakh from Rs 3 cr to Rs 3.87 cr since last year and that of Ms Bhuvaneswari from Rs 31 crore to Rs 39 cr. In the past year, his net assets decreased from Rs 21 cr to Rs 19 cr while his wife Ms Brahmani’s net assets increased from around Rs 7 cr to Rs 11.5 cr. His son Devansh’s net assets rose from Rs 18 cr to Rs 19 cr and their investment firm Nirvana’s net assets from Rs 6.8 cr to Rs 9 cr, he said. He claimed that the allegations regarding the disproportionate assets of the Nara family were baseless. Jagan with Rs 9 lakh of declared assets in 2004 was worth Rs 42,000 cr in 2009.
False reports had been circulated over the IT raids on Naidu’s former secretary P. Srinivas’ house where only Rs 2.63 lakh was found, but Vijaysai Reddy alleged that Rs 2000 cr was found. He demanded an apology for misleading the public on the issue.
