Road transport corporation to cover Telangana by year-end, says P Mahender Reddy
According to official data, there are 10,434 revenue villages and 8,695 gram panchayats in the state.
Hyderabad: Nearly 1,300 villages in the state are still given the go-by, by the RTC. Transport minister P. Mahender Reddy told the Legislative Assembly on Monday that the government has devised plans to extend bus facility to all villages by the year-end.
“Governments in undivided AP failed to provide road network to these villages, due to which the RTC could not ply buses. However, after TRS came to power, the CM laid special emphasis on laying BT roads in villages connecting mandal headquarters. Work is going on in full swing and once the roads are completed, bus connectivity will be provided to all of them,” Mr Reddy said.
According to official data, there are 10,434 revenue villages and 8,695 gram panchayats in the state. Besides, training programmes have been initiated for RTC drivers to bring down the number of road accidents.
