Schools must have telugu pandits: K Chandrasekhar Rao
The CM also instructed the education department to ensure that at least one Telugu pandit is appointed in every private school.
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday decided that Telugu would be compulsory for students only till Class X and not Class XII as announced earlier.
“After studying the mother tongue policy implemented in Tamil Nadu and Punjab, we have decided to implement Telugu as a compulsory subject till the tenth standard for the present," the CM said.
The Telugu Sahitya Academy and Telugu University will prepare a class-wise syllabus. "The course material should have content that inculcates patriotism and ethical values among the children. The government will take positive measures for the bright future of children who study Telugu as a subject," said the CM.
The CM also instructed the education department to ensure that at least one Telugu pandit is appointed in every private school.
