Bengaluru: Sheshadripuram police of Bengaluru on Tuesday arrested actor Chetan Kumar Ahimsa over his post on a social networking site where he allegedly said that ‘Hindutva is built on lies.’ Chetan has been sent to 14-days judicial custody.

In his post, Chetan Kumar Ahimsa also reffered to the recent controversy which had erupted in the State over Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders claiming that ‘Uri Gowda and Doddananje Gowda’ soldiers in the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom were the killers of Tipu Sultan erstwhile ruler of the Mysore kingdom.
Over the BJP’s claim and projection of Uri Gowda and Doddananje Gowda, Chetan Kumar Ahimsa stated that Uri Gowda and Doddananje Gowda are ‘killers’ of Tipu Sultan ‘a lie.’
Congress and Janata Dal Secular (JDS) leaders termed the Uri Gowda and Doddananje Gowda as ‘fictitious’ characters while historians of Karnataka stated there were no references of Uri Gowda and Doddananje Gowda in history when it came to the rule of Mysore Maharajas.
When he was arrested by the police on Tuesday, Chetan was seen punching his fist while he was seated with the policemen.
