Chennai: Bharathiraja meets CoP, seeks release of protesters

The meeting took place post Cauvery protest that culminated into an anti-IPL protest in Chennai.

Chennai: In a pacifying gesture, the activist turned film director Bharathiraja met city police commissioner A.K. Viswanathan on Friday. The meeting took place post Cauvery protest that culminated into an anti-IPL protest in Chennai. Director Vetrimaran accompanied the veteran during the visit.

While speaking to mediapersons, Bharathiraja said that he had appreciated the commissioner for providing security during the protest.“During the protest, some untoward incidents had happened advertently or inadvertently. I promised the commissioner that no such incidents would happen in the future,” he said. He also said that he requested the commissioner to release the persons belongs to his outfit, arrested during the protest.
