Thrissur: Preparations are in full swing for the Lok Sabha elections in Thrissur, district collector T. V. Anupama and city Police Commissioner Yathish Chandra said.

The collector said small tents would be set up in all polling booths to escape heat in view of the expected extreme heat conditions. She also advised voters to carry an umbrella and a bottle of drinking water with them.

“As many as 1,258 polling booths have been set up in Thrissur constituency and all voting machines have been put on a trial run.

The commissioning of the EVMs and VVPAAT machines have been completed and around 300 machines, which were faulty, have been either repaired or replaced. We also have enough voting machines in reserve in case of any emergency for replacements," she said.
