Case against MK Raghavan
The TV sting visuals can be sent for scientific examination only if a case was registered against him.
Kozhikode: The director-general of prosecution on Friday advised DGP Loknath Behera to register a case against UDF candidate M.K. Raghavan in connection with the ‘Spy cam’ controversy.
The LDF had alleged that Mr Raghavan had sought bribes from the reporter of a North Indian channel ‘TV 9’ during a sting operation, while Mr Raghavan said the visuals were cooked up and fabricated by the LDF.
Mr Raghavan, during a conversation with the channel reporter, had allegedly hinted at the possibility of getting bribes in a land deal for opening a hotel in the city. This had created an uproar and dented the image of Mr Raghavan.
The visuals could be sent for scientific examination only if a case was registered against him, the director-general of prosecution said. He tendered the advice based on the complaint submitted by the CPM to the election commission which was forwarded to the DGP.
The investigation based on the complaint of Mr Raghavan is also under progress.
