Moon sighted; Id-ul-Fitr on Saturday

Hyderabad: Id-ul-Fitr will be celebrated all over on Saturday. This was announced by the moon sighting committee on Friday, after it confirmed the sighting of the moon.

While people began greeting each other, messaging apps were flooded with ‘Id Mubarak’ messages. A festive atmosphere prevailed across the city, especially around Mecca Masjid and Charminar, the centre for Id shopping.

The conclusion of the month of fasting and prayer of Ramzan marks the commencement of Shawwal on Saturday.

The committee chief said that the crescent moon was sighted in Bhadrachalam, Nellore, Osmanabad, Ranchi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Meanwhile, Jummat-ul-vida, which is the last Friday during the holy month, saw the devout out in full strength at all mosques offering Zohar prayers.
