HD Kumaraswamy's oath at Palace Grounds
Most of the leaders are expected to come for the oath taking ceremony.
Bengaluru: Chief Minister designate Mr H.D. Kumaraswamy has decided to take the oath of office on Wednesday at the sprawling Palace Grounds instead of Kanteerava Stadium, as it can hold a larger number of people. He has also decided to seek the vote of confidence on Thursday itself in the Assembly though the Governor has given him 15 days time.
Sources said Mr Kumaraswamy would be inviting Mrs Sonia Gandhi, AICC President Mr Rahul Gandhi, besides heads of all regional political parties like Mr K Chandrashekhar Rao(TRS), Mr Chandrababu Naidu (TDP), Ms Mayavathi (BSP), Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mr Akhilesh Yadav(SP) and Ms Mamata Banerjee (TMC). Most of the leaders are expected to come for the oath taking ceremony.
Besides, the two constituencies- Ramanagar and Channapattana, from where Mr Kumaraswamy has won, are just 60 km away from the city. Even constituencies like Magadi, Dasarahalli and Nelamangala, where the JD(S) has won are just on the outskirts of the city, which may trigger an inflow of people. This would create traffic problems along with parking problems around Kanteerava stadium or Vidhana Soudha. So Mr Kumaraswamy was advised to shift the venue to Palace Grounds instead of the stadium, sources said.
On Sunday, Mr Kumaraswamy started the day with meetings with senior bureaucrats at his residence in JP Nagar, where even DG&IGP Neelamani N Raju and other senior officers called on him. On Monday, Mr Kumaraswamy will be going to Delhi to attend the death anniversary function of former PM Rajiv Gandhi. Later, he will meet Mrs Sonia Gandhi.
