Hyderabad: Tweet urges cops to free' bus stop

Hyderabad: City resident Sandeep Kumar has taken up with the police the issue of hawkers who have taken over the footpaths at Regimental Bazaar, near the Secunderabad railway station, leaving no space for pedestrians on the roads and commuters at the bus terminus.

Annoyed with footpath encroachments Mr Kumar tweeted pictures of the encroachments on the Twitter handle of the Hyderabad city police and asked them to clear the encroachments.

He stated that the hawkers had completely encroached the footpaths leaving no space for pedestrains and commuters.

Reacting to the complaint, the Hyderabad city police directed the complaint to the Gopalpuram police station.

Gopalpuram traffic inspector Mohammad Majeed Gopalpuram said, “We received the complaint in the evening and immediately cleared all the kiosks which were blocking the footpaths and bus-stops. We have warned the hawkers and cleared the road and footpaths. If they repeat the same, we book case under Section 402 of the GHMC Act'.”
