Hyderabad: Squarely blaming Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar for not implementing the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Union minister for tourism and culture, G. Kishan Reddy said, “BJP-led NDA government at Centre provides ₹18,240 per acre on fertiliser subsidy, which is double than the Rythu Bandhu being offered by the state government in Telangana state. Chief minister discontinued the PMFBY in the state for political reasons.”

He went on to say that KCR, on the other hand, failed to implement an alternative crop insurance scheme. He accused the Chief minister of pedalling blatant lies against the Centre for his publicity while farmers are suffering due to crop losses.

After BJP came to power at the Centre, the BJP government has taken constructive measures to sell farmers’ products anywhere in the country without any objections. The Minimum Supportive Price (MSP) has been increased for different crops in the country. When the BJP government provided tractors and agricultural material under subsidy to farmers, the BRS party leaders and MLAs allocated them to their relatives and BRS party activists in the rural areas, Kishan alleged.

"The BJP government has spent ₹6100 crore to renovate the Ramagundam fertiliser factory in producing fertiliser products for farmers. When the Prime Minister came to Ramagundam to inaugurate a renovated fertiliser factory, K. Chandrashekar Rao had no time to attend the function, but had time to visit Nanded to meet farmers,” he blamed.

On paddy procurement, Kishan Reddy said that the Central government spent everything on paddy procurement and the state government only provided their administration and staff to collect paddy and hand it over to FCI godowns. The state government failed to procure paddy from the farmers, he said.

The BJP government provided five kilograms of rice free of cost to 84 crore people in the country during the pandemic. By spending ₹33 on each kilogram of rice, the government provided free rice to people. “Sitting inside the palatial house of Pragathi Bhavan, the Chief minister is trying to pelt stones on BJP leaders and Prime minister by making false statements," the Union minister alleged.
