NEW DELHI: Joining BJP Lok Sabha MP from East Delhi Mahesh Girri, who is on an indefinite  hungerstrike outside chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence, the party’s Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy on Monday demanded that the Delhi government should be dismissed if Mr Kejriwal refuses to apologise to Mr Girri for his allegations linking him to the recent murder of NDMC legal adviser M.M. Khan.

Mr Swamy also attacked lieutenant-governor Najeeb Jung for failing to protect Mr Girri from attack by his government and accused him of seeking guidance from Congress chief Sonia Gandhi’s political secretary Ahmed Patel.

“The Delhi government will survive if Kejriwal apologises. The Delhi government should be dismissed in national interest,” he  said. Mr Swamy said Mr Kejriwal often uses the “shoot-and-scoot” tactic to attack his political rivals. “He should either show documents (to corroborate his charges against Mr Girri) or apologise,” he added.

Asked why had not sought Mr Jung’s removal, Mr Swamy said he had been busy with the issue of RBI governor Raghuram Rajan, but will now talk to the Modi government on the issue. BJP MP from North East Delhi Manoj Tiwari dared Kejriwal to face Mr Girri and alleged that hurling charges and going into hiding was an old habit of Mr Kejriwal.

Kejriwal demands Girri’s arrest
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today demanded that BJP MP from East Delhi Mahesh Girri be arrested in connection with the murder of NDMC official M.M. Khan even as he accused the Prime Minister of “shielding” him.

In a tweet, Kejriwal demanded that Girri should be arrested. “He shud be arrested n interrogated by Modi police in MM Khan murder case. Modi police shielding him,” he said.

Khan, an estate officer of NDMC, was shot dead in Jamia Nagar on May 16, a day before he was scheduled to pass the final order on the lease terms of a hotel which was functioning on a property leased out by the civic body.

Kejriwal alleged that four days before Khan’s murder, Girri had approached the L-G with the hotel owner's letter for “removal” of Khan from proceedings in a case pertaining to the licence violation.
