Hyderabad: A 13-year-old student drowned in a pit when he went to retrieve a cricket ball. The deceased, identified as Abhilash, was a Class VI student. He had gone to play with two of his friends near his home when the ball fell inside a pit.
“When he went to get the ball out he accidentally drowned. His frightened friends ran away and informed the families who asked HMDA workers to help them retrieve the body,” said inspector Y. Narasimha Reddy of Uppal. “The family immediately disposed of the body,” he added.
Later, Abhilash’s mother, Sunita, lodged a complaint with Uppal police. “As the body is missing and information available is very less, we are taking legal opinion,” the inspector said.
