Hyderabad: Man pushes son into lake, kills self

Hyderabad: A depressed father committed suicide after killing his 12-year-old son by pushing him into a lake and later jumping into it himself. 

Their bodies were found late on Monday night at Jawaharnagar. Their bodies were fished out on Tuesday and was identified in the evening. 

According to the police, the man was identified as Dharam Sudhir Kumar, 40, a medical shop owner from Balajinagar and the son was identified as Teja, 12, a Class-VII student. 

He left home with his son on Monday, by telling his family that he is taking him out for a while and called his brother at around 1.30 am and told him that he has been depressed that his business has been facing losses and that his son failed in his Class-VII exams. 

“He told his brother that he was at Tank Bund and that he was depressed. His brother told him that he will come there and console him. After a while, Sudhir switched off his mobile. Their bodies were found by locals on Tuesday in Chennapur lake. We called his family after getting details from the registeration plate of his bike, which was parked in the vicinity,” said S. Saidulu, Sub-Inspector of Jawahar Nagar. 

The family were called to the scene and they identified the bodies, following which a case was registered under Section 174 (suspicious death) of CrPC and the bodies were shifted for postmortem examination.
