Hyderabad: Metro parking tenders in July

All Metro rail corridors to be connected to airport eventually.

Hyderabad: Tenders for multi-level car parking (MLCP) facilities at 42 places in the city will be floated in 15 days, minister K.T. Rama Rao said on Wednesday.

The facilities will have charging points for electric vehicles and commercial aspects to make them financially vialable.

Ahead of the inaugural of the Ameerpet-LB Nagar Metro Rail stretch in the  in the last week of July, Mr Rama Rao along with transport minister P. Mahender Reddy travelled on the 16-km section on Wednesday. “It is a long awaited corridor. The trial runs started on Tuesday and work is being done swiftly. Once it is ready, we will seek the Chief Minister’s appointment for the inaugural,” Mr Rama Rao said.

Amenities on this stretch will be developed on the lines of those at the Miyapur station. A joint meeting will be held along with the transport minister to link bus services and Metro Rial services, he said.

MGBS station and the Nampally railway station will be linked to the Metro Rail. The government is also mulling linking Imliban and other bus stations to Metro Rail.

“The Ameerpet-LB Nagar has heritage precincts including MJ Market, Rang Mahal and  Nampally station. We have requested L&T and HMRL to develop it as heritage precinct to spread Hyderabad’s history and culture,” Mr Rama Rao said.

He added that the detailed project report for Metro Rail Phase-2 and for airport connectivity were being prepared and these would be ready by July and August.  “DPR for connectivity to airport from Hitec City will be ready by August and eventually all the three Metro Rail corridors will be connected to the Shamshabad airport. The airport first phase will be from Gachibowli and the the second phase from Falaknuma,” the he said.
