THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The mismanagement by the finance department has pushed the local bodies and municipalities into dire straits, according to KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran.

He told reporters here that the plan fund scheme in the local bodies had been hit though the local bodies and municipalities had already got district planning council sanction by January to implement various schemes during the 2019-20 fiscal. The KPCC will hold protest meetings across the state over this, he said.

He claimed that the LDF government's recommendation to modernise the projects before July 1 had played spoilsport.

"The norm is that the bills being produced by March 31 will be included in the plan fund for the fiscal year concerned. But during 2018-19 and after January this year there has been continuous delay which led to missing the deadline", he said.

The bills which were submitted during the last week of the fiscal year were deliberately put in queue system. Mullapally pointed out that the mismanagement happened when the government has the constitutional rights to include it in the 2018-19 fiscal year.
