Mumbai cops serve notice on Binoy Kodiyeri
Woman provides fresh evidence including whatsapp messages, digital records and bank documents.
THIRUVANANTHPAURAM: The two-member Mumbai police team which is camping in Kannur has served notice to Binoy Kodiyeri directing him to join the investigations in connection with the allegations of rape and cheating filed by a former bar dancer.
Sub-Inspectors Vinayak Jadhav and Dayanand Pawar along with Thalassery police team visited Binoy's house in Thalassery and delivered the notice. However, Binoy was not present at home at the time of their visit.
He is reportedly in hiding and making efforts to seek anticipatory bail fearing arrest in the case.
The Mumbai police also checked out on Binoy's other addresses including the one within New Mahe police station.
Through the notice, the police has directed Binoy to appear before the investigation team at the earliest. He should subject himself to scientific investigations to prove his innocence in the case. The Mumbai police team plans to continue in Kannur till it gets Binoy's custody.
Meanwhile, the complainant was summoned by Oshiwara police station on Thursday. Her statement was recorded again.
Mumbai police sources said there was enough evidence to suggest that both the woman and Binoy had stayed together in a hotel and at a flat taken on rent. It was based on the new evidence collected in the case that the two member team of Mumbai police have been asked to stay put in Kannur.
The Mumbai police wants to take Binoy into custody to confront him with the evidence collected by Oshiwara police. The plan is to record his arrest after detailed interrogation.
The woman who came to Oshiwara police station along with a friend, reportedly provided fresh evidence including whatsapp messages, digital records and bank transaction documents. The documents are being examined by the police.
The police also plan to take statement of the hotel staff where the couple reportedly stayed and the neighbours, security personnel of the flat. According to Oshiwara police, meticulous investigations are being carried out based on the complaint of the woman and the evidence is being cross checked to proceed legally against the accused.
