Coimbatore: To celebrate the 65th birth anniversary of Sundaram Karivardhan, the son of the soil who was an Indian formula racing driver and a car designer, a special section was launched at the 'GeeDee Car Museum' located on Avinashi Road which is dedicated to the life and motor sports achievements of Late Sundaram Karivardhan.
It may be noted that number '65' was his favourite competition number.
The special section showcases different cars built by the man besides having on display more than 200 pictures and 48 press articles published about him between 1973 and 1995. The special section was inaugurated by his family members on Thursday.
The cars showcased in the section at 'GeeDee Museum' include two-seater and single-seater formula cars designed and built by late S. Karivardhan. Also included in the section is a GoKart with a Yezdi bike engine designed by the man regarded as a doyen and legend of Indian motor sports during his days and a Sipani Dolphin Car with a 'Formula Ford Engine' which was raced by him.
A source shares that Karivardhan won many races in it.Later, a special address was delivered by GD Rajkumar, which was followed by launch of a short audio-video biopic on Late Karivardhan at Kari Motor Speedway.
