Karimnagar: City Congress president Komatireddy Narendar Reddy on Wednesday said that municipal administration and urban minister K.T. Rama Rao inaugurated a pylon on Manair Bridge one year ago and promised the people of Karimnagar that the government would supply 24x7 pure drinking water to every household, but the government has yet to begin any work.

In light of KTR's tour schedule in Karimnagar, town police authorities began detaining Congress leaders early on Wednesday and shifting them to the police training centre in Karimnagar.

Speaking on the occasion, Narendar Reddy condemned the illegal arrests by police officials and claimed that instead of explaining why the government was unable to supply water round-the-clock as promised, the government is attempting to silence the opposition by using police force and illegal arrests.

During the high summer season, the government was unable to supply water daily. The residents of Karimnagar are unable to meet their water needs because water is only available for 30 minutes on alternate days in some locations.

When the Congress, in support of the people, demanded that the minister reveal when the government would supply round-the-clock pure drinking water and when he would keep his promise, he claimed that police officials under the influence of the local MLA and BC welfare minister Gangula Kamalakar illegally arrested the Congress leaders.

The Congress leaders said, “People are watching the BRS leaders' every move and are frustrated with the BRS government's empty promises.” He warned that they are prepared to deliver the government a lesson in the upcoming assembly elections.
