Centre failed to protect Dalits, says Sonia Gandhi

Sonia asked the party MPs to be “active, to be aggressive and hold the govt and ministers to their words and actions (in parliament)â€.

New Delhi: Launching a frontal attack on the Modi government of its failure on national and international issues, job creation and inflation, protecting Dalits, tribals, minorities, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday said this government is anchored in slick marketing events, in glib marketing slogans and in re-packaging.

But she remained silent on the GST. Addressing a general body meeting of the Congress Parlia-mentary Party, Mrs Gandhi reiterated the Congress’ stand on these issues but did not touch the issue of the GST at a time when the Congress leaders in Rajya Sabha involved in the talks with government managers, are confident of passage of the crucial Bill in the current session.

The Congress chief asked  the party MPs to be “active, to be aggressive and hold the government and ministers to their words and actions (in parliament)”. She said that the Modi government has mistaken  its parliamentary majority for a “license of impose its narrow ideology on our people.
