TDR issue rocks BBMP, panel to probe scam
Other members too pointed out how officials have gone overboard issuing TDRs.
Bengaluru: As a large number of irregularities have been reported in TDR (Transferable Development Rights), the BBMP Council has decided to set up a committee to investigate the matter.
BBMP opposition leader Padmanabha Reddy, placing the subject for discussion at the council meeting on Saturday, spoke in detail about the TDR scam.
He slammed the officials saying that the interest shown in issuing TDRs was not seen in possessing the land. From 2005 till 2015, over 2,220 properties have been issued 22.08 lakh sqkm of TDR. By the same calculation, 545 acres should have been under the control of BBMP. He alleged that officials have thrown all rules to the wind, and issued TDRs as per their whims and fancies.
