Thrissur: Alathur MP P.K. Biju has called for a rejig of cropping pattern to mitigate challenges posed by unprecedented changes in climate.
Speaking after inaugurating the district-level Union government’s ‘Sankalp Se Sidhi’ agricultural development programme at Pazhayannur on Sunday, he said that more support for farmers in terms of crop diversification, cold storage facilities and processing units have become imperative.
Sankalp Se Sidhi (the attainment through resolve) campaign launched by the Union government envisages to build a new India by 2022.

Kerala Agriculture University director of extension Jiju P. Alex in his keynote address highlighted the need for enhancing financial support to farmers and ensuring soil and water conservation projects. He offered KAU's technical back up for such programmes initiated by local self governments (LSGs.)
Pazhayannur panchaayath vice-president M. Padma Kumar piloted the Sankalp Se Sidhi oath and read out the message from Prime Minister.
Assistant collector Vinay Goel honoured Sibi George Kallungal, the state farmer award winner. Panchayat president Sobhana Rajan presided. KVK Head Dr. A. Prema and Dr. Giggin led the technical sessions.
