Bengaluru: 14-year-old girl dies after light pole falls on her

Bengaluru: A 14-year-old girl riding pillion with her father died after a streetlight pole collapsed on her, close to Hope Farm near Dinnur Cross on Monday afternoon.

The deceased, Yuvarani, a class seven student, was returning with her father Harish on the bike from Hoskote where they had gone to attend a housewarming ceremony. The deceased was a resident of Varthur village.

Harish, with the help of passersby, rushed Yuvarani to a private hospital, where she died on Monday evening. Harish and Yuvarani had left their house on Sunday night to attend the house warming ceremony in Hoskote.

They left their relative’s house in Hoskote on Monday afternoon, and as they reached Hope Farm near Dinnur cross, the light pole suddenly fell on Yuvarani. She fell off the bike and lost her consciousness. She was under treatment, but died on Monday evening.

The Kadugodi police have booked BBMP officials for causing death due to negligence.
