Expect Rs 100 crore from Centre in Ph-1: Dr G Parameshwar

Mysuru: Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Dr G. Parameshwar visited people at relief centres in Kushalnagar, Shuntikoppa and Mythri Hall in Madikeri and said that the government has taken the disaster in Kodagu very seriously and the entire government is with the flood-affected people.

He said, “While the situation is better compared to the last few days. It is suspected that many more people are stranded because of landslides. At least 50,000 people have suffered due to the rains and at least 5,000 houses have been damaged. The government will build a new colony for those who have lost houses. It has been difficult to assess the losses. We are expecting Rs 100 crore from the Union government in the first phase.”

He said, “BBMP, BDA and BWSSB are  contributing Rs 5 crore. Of that, Rs 4 crore will be donated to Kodagu and Rs 1 crore to Kerala. Also state police are donating their one-day salary, which comes to Rs 5.82 crore. It will be sent for Kodagu. Fire and emergency services personnel are contributing Rs 7 crore.” Kodagu district in-charge minister Sa Ra Mahesh accompanied Mr Parameshwar.
