Bengaluru: The BJP, which does not appear to have given up on running the government, hopes to topple the Kumaraswamy government soon after the end of the auspicious Hindu month, Shravana, claiming that several Congress MLAs are ready to jump ship as they are unhappy with the JDS in the ruling chair .
Speaking to reporters, BJP core committee member and senior leader, Govinda Karjol claimed that he was " hundred per cent" certain that by end of Shravana, the Kumaraswamy government would collapse owing to internal differences among the coalition partners, paving the way for the BJP to come to power in the state.
"No one can prevent the BJP from forming a government headed by Mr Yeddyurappa in the state," Mr Karjol declared. Claiming that the Kumaraswamy government had not taken off yet as it was busy with the transfers of its officials, he alleged that the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues were not showing any interest in addressing the everyday problems of the people. Meanwhile, BJP MPs, MLAs and MLCs have decided to contribute a one month's salary for relief work to the people of Kodagu.
In a statement, BJP state president, B.S. Yeddyurappa said the damage caused in Kodagu by the floods was beyond imagination. "The people are finding it extremely difficult to lead normal lives. It is our duty to rush to their help," he said, adding, "I have personally met those living in rehabilitation centres. They have lost everything. I will take up this matter with the Union government and rehabilitation work will be done comprehensively."
