Khammam: FP shops to also have e-kiosks to serve people
FP dealers to be given training at the 3-day camp.
Khammam: Efforts are on to open online services (e-Seva) counters in the fair price shops to take services to the doorsteps of the people.
Services like payment of property tax, current bills, house tax, money transfer, traffic challan payments, changes in Aadhaar card, making fixed deposits in the banks, mobile recharge, booking railway, bus and airline tickets would be provided by these kiosks.
There are 669 FP shops in Khammam district which distribute essential commodities to the beneficiaries during the first 15 days of the month.
The government has taken this decision as the FP dealers have been raising hue and cry over their reduced income due to changes in the public distribution system. At present, the government is distributing only rice through the FP shops.
Further, the people in rural areas have been facing difficulty when it came to depositing money into their accounts, paying taxes, sending money to their kids living elsewhere, booking gas, railway tickets as many of them are not tech savvy. These FP shops-cum-e-Seva centres will provide all the above services to the public.
People in rural areas have also been complaining about lack of banking services in the villages. Over 50 per cent of the villages do not have banking facility in the state and people have to go to nearby branches to withdraw or deposit money.
The FP dealers will be paid commission for providing these services, thereby increasing their income.
At the same time, people will also be provided with all these services at their doorstep without rushing to other places.
To open these kiosks, the government has decided to impart training to the FP dealers in October.
During the 3-day camp, the dealers will be told about what should be done in the e-Seva kiosks.
