Kochi: The police team probing the alleged suicide of three members of a family near Puthuvype reportedly interrogated a youth, said to be the boyfriend of Nayana, the daughter of the deceased couple, Subhashan and Geetha.

The cops, however, have not divulged the details of the interrogation or the whereabouts of the youth, who is only known to the public as a native of Kannur.

Subhashan, 52, of Anakkaran Veettil, his wife Geetha, 48 and daughter Nayana, 23 were found hanging inside their house on Monday.

Nayana, a B.Tech graduate employed in Bangalore, had reportedly eloped with the youth to Goa in July. The family was said to be under mental trauma since her return on Saturday. The suicide note recovered from the house said the three jointly took the decision because of depression and mental pain.

The hands and legs of  Nayana and Geetha were reportedly tied using a shawl when they were found hanging. The police suspects Subha-shan to have killed them before committing suicide. However, they said any such things can be only confirmed after receiving the post-mortem report. “Any leads could be found only after collecting the report," an officer with Njarakkal police said.

The bodies were handed over to the relatives after post-mortem at Ernakulam Medical College hospital on Tuesday.
